They were richly deserved: a cast of 33 performers, ranging in age from 10 to 20, spent 4 weeks of day-long rehearsals and a week of late nights in tech, perfecting their portrayal of a host of residents of turn-of-the-century New Rochelle and Harlem, New York: immigrants, musicians, factory workers, rallyers, reporters, police, volunteer firefighters, public intellectuals, baseball fans, vacationers, vaudeville dancers, and more. These young performing artists were supported by a full, live orchestra of 29 stellar musicians.

Covid thew a wrench in the remainder of opening weekend, and we remain on standby as we monitor the cast and orchestra’s health and healing. The show must – and will! – go on!
